A Day No Pigs Would Die is about a boy who becomes a man at an early age, due to a couple of issues in his family and their lifestyle.One issue was helping a cow give birth to twin calfs. Another was the slautering of his barren pet pig Pinky. Also his father's death at the near end of the story.

The plot of the story was for Robert Peck (the son) to become able to fend for himself and his family.
